Compatibility
What MoyMote needs, what it works with, and where it can't help. We'd rather tell you straight than hand you a long model list.
How MoyMote controls a monitor
MoyMote talks to your monitor over DDC/CI, the standard that lets a PC send commands such as brightness or contrast to an external monitor through the video cable. It uses Windows' own monitor configuration interface to do this, so no extra driver is needed. The monitor has to support DDC/CI, and DDC/CI has to be enabled in the monitor's own menu. On most monitors it is on by default.
What you need
- Windows 10 (version 1809 or later) or Windows 11. MoyMote runs on the PC the monitor is connected to.
- An external monitor that supports DDC/CI.
- For phone control (optional): the PC and the phone on the same Wi-Fi network, and a modern browser on the phone. The panel opens from the QR code in the phone's browser.
Connections
- HDMI, DisplayPort and DVI carry DDC/CI on monitors that support it.
- USB-C docks, hubs and adapters: some don't pass DDC/CI through. A direct cable from the PC to the monitor is the safest choice.
- Multiple monitors: MoyMote supports several external monitors. A picker lets you control one or all of them. Controls depend on each monitor's DDC/CI support.
Known limits
- Laptop built-in screens don't support DDC/CI, so MoyMote can't change their brightness. It can still black them out. Windows' own brightness keys keep working as usual.
- Some TVs and some HDMI adapters or USB-C docks don't support DDC/CI either.
- Most virtual displays don't expose DDC/CI.
- Partial control: every monitor exposes a different set of controls. Some offer only brightness, others add colour presets, contrast or HDR. MoyMote shows what yours reports it can do and hides the rest.
- HDR: while HDR is on, MoyMote can't apply brightness and colour settings. Turn HDR off first; your brightness level is kept.
- Waking the PC: many modern PCs go into a deep sleep in which the network is off, so wake it with the keyboard, mouse or power button. Waking from the phone isn't reliable.
If your monitor doesn't respond
MoyMote tells you instead of failing silently: without a DDC/CI monitor the panel shows "No monitor found, searching…" and keeps retrying. Check that the monitor is connected directly, that DDC/CI is on in its menu, and see the support page. A Report a problem button opens our support form.
Tested, and how to check yours
We have tested MoyMote on a Fazeon X34F180QP. We don't publish a long compatibility list, because cables, adapters and firmware change the result. The 7-day free trial is the test: install MoyMote on the PC the monitor is connected to and try the controls on your own setup before you decide.
